The Web Widget is the fastest Channel to get an Agent into production. Just paste a JavaScript snippet into your site’s HTML — no Business account, no third-party approval, no manual webhook configuration.

Step-by-step setup

1

Open Channels in the Dashboard

In the sidebar, go to Channels → Add channel and select Web Widget.
2

Name the integration

Set an internal name (e.g., “Main Website”, “Blog EN”) to identify this Widget in Inbox filters.
3

Choose the Agent

Select the AI Agent that will handle Conversations from this Widget.
4

Customize the appearance

Adjust primary color, accent color, button position (bottom-right or bottom-left), welcome message, assistant name, avatar, and theme (auto, light, or dark).
5

Copy the snippet

Timely.ai generates the code with the data-agent-id of your integration. Paste it before the </body> tag on all pages where the chat should appear.
6

(Optional) Configure allowed domains

Restrict which domains can load the Widget to prevent unauthorized use.

Customization notes

  • Attributes set directly in the snippet override Dashboard settings — useful for multiple variations on different pages.
  • The Widget supports embeddable mode: add data-embedded="true" and data-target="#container-id" to render it inside a <div> instead of the floating button.
  • For voice support, the site must use HTTPS and the Agent must have voice configured in Agents → [agent] → Voice.
  • The embed.js script cache is 5 minutes — configuration changes may take that long to reflect on the site.
The Widget uses sessionStorage to maintain the session while the tab is open. When the browser is closed and reopened, a new session begins — the previous Chat History remains available to the attendant in the Inbox.
